Why choose Busy Bees at Oldbrook: -

Busy Bees in Oldbrook provides OUTSTANDING childcare as reported by Ofsted, December 2011.

Busy Bees Day Nursery at Oldbrook in Milton Keynes is a large, purpose built nursery situated close to the local amenities, Central Milton Keynes and the train station.

The nursery has small rooms which provide a homely atmosphere for all the children. Each room has access to individual garden areas where the children have the opportunities to explore the outside environment.
Oldbrook is one of the nurseries carefully selected to stand as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ Flagship site, a status devised by Busy Bees to represent the finest standards in childcare. This has recently been confirmed for the second year running.
In the recent Busy Bees Annual Awards Oldbrook received the ‘Team of the Year’ for going above and beyond, and demonstrating that every child is at the heart of what we do.

The children are provided with many learning opportunities throughout all the age groups, where experienced and qualified staff, who cater for all children’s individual needs and interests and the key person will plan for each child’s personal learning. The rooms are bright and stimulating with a wide range of resources available both inside and out.

Rachael the Chef and Gemma her assistant provide delicious home cooked food which are nutritionally balanced and healthy. We have a four week rolling menu which takes advantage of fresh, seasonal produce and allows our children to experience a wide variety of tastes, textures, flavours and colours within their meal. We are also fully equipped to provide food for children with allergies or intolerances as well as cultural preferences and we will always provide a vegetarian option to meat dishes.

The staff here at Oldbrook are dedicated, hard-working, skilled and most of all passionate about their roles, the children and the parents. All staff are either NVQ level 3 trained or working towards it.

The nursery has a Parent Representative Group that can be contacted via email, if you would like to ask any questions or advice. The Group consists of parents whose children already attend the nursery and are happy to give support when leaving your children for the first time or even when making a transition from room to room. Please feel free to use this service if you have any questions or would like feedback on the nursery as well.

Over the past 12 months we have successfully implemented many of the Busy Bees initiatives that are created by our Head office Childcare team. Each initiative has its own design to aid the children to succeed and enjoy many areas of learning and development. The initiatives include Busy Babies for our Sweet peas Room, Block Play for our Poppies Room, The Imagination Station for the Tulips and Bluebells Room and Cooking with Me for the Pre-school Rooms.
We also have additional initiatives shared by age groups these include, Wake and Shake and the Golden Mile!
We are very passionate at providing the best possible start for children and their families and involving the community.
At Oldbrook nursery we offer extra-curricular activities for the Toddler and Pre-school children which is Stretch n Grow, where the children learn about health eating and exercise.

If you would like your child to experience a happy, safe and stimulating environment, please arrange an appointment to come and visit the nursery and see for yourself what a great nursery it really is. We will be happy to answer any questions either by telephone or in person.

Hello my name is Lorraine Harben and I am the Nursery Manager for Busy Bees in Milton Keynes.
I have been working in the childcare sector for 17 years and have experience in a variety of childcare settings; joining Busy Bees in 2001. I am passionate about my job, seeing everyday as a new opportunity to make a difference to children’s lives by providing them with the very best care and education. I have a wonderful long serving team of nursery staff who share my passion and are committed to providing excellent outcomes for the children in our care. We pride ourselves on having excellent partnerships with all our parents and carers.

I am qualified with an NNEB Diploma in Nursery Nursing and completed a Level 4 Certificate in Early Years Practice. I am currently studying for an Early Years Foundation Degree through the Open University. I am continually reflecting on my practice and looking at ways to further improve our service to children and parents. I encourage all my team to attend regular training both through Busy Bees and also the Local Authority to continually update their knowledge and improve their practice.

We are very proud to be a Centre of Excellence for Care, Education and Catering.
