Hello! My name is Mrs Sharon Mackenzie. I am a fully qualified Nursery Nurse and have worked for Busy Bees since 1997. I have recently completed the first stage of a degree course in Leadership Capability. I am one of our two First Aiders at Work and have attended numerous courses surrounding child development and staff development during my time with Busy Bees. I have a strong commitment to staff development and encourage staff to attend courses such as Paediatric First Aid, Child Development, Learning through Play and the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). I also manage and coach staff during staff meetings, appraisals, supervisions and day-to-day contact.

We have an excellent full time Chef here at the setting. Craig Pendleton has achieved 5 out of 5 stars for Scores on the Doors in 2011 and is the only Chef in Sefton who has achieved the highly sought after “Appetite for Life” Award from Sefton Environmental Health Department three years in succession. To reflect this great achievement, Craig has been granted Ambassador status within the borough and is a contact for other settings trying to achieve the award.

We have a Parent Liaison Group, a forum for parents to tell us what they think. We shall be setting up a Children’s Forum from October 2011, an excellent way to listen to the children’s views, we think.

Our last OFSTED inspection was in January 2010 and we gained 15 Good outcomes and 2 Outstanding outcomes. We gained our Outstanding outcomes for The extent to which children make a positive contribution and The effectiveness of the setting’s engagement with parents and carers .
