Busy Bees in Bedford Manton Lane provides GOOD childcare, as reported by Ofsted, (2009). Busy Bees day nursery at Bedford is a purpose built nursery in the Brickhill area of Bedford. The nursery is easily accessible from Bedford town centre as well as the A6 and A421 bypasses, we are also a short 20minute walk from the train station.
The team at Bedford are extremely passionate about what they do; many of them have been here since the nursery opened 10yrs ago! Our staff are all level 3 or are working towards their qualifications and the manager holds a level 4 qualification in leadership and management as well as the NNEB. We encourage all our staff to attend further training to develop their skills; we have a dedicated training team at our head office that provides a varied training package for all staff.
We ensure that your children have an enjoyable time while at nursery and that their needs and interests are met through exciting activities and play opportunities. The children take part in a range of Busy Bees initiatives which include Wake and Shake, Kindermusik, Busy Babies and Our Imagination station. Our outdoor area is fantastic! We are lucky enough to have a purpose built wooden adventure play area, a separate baby garden as well as gardening areas for the children. We offer the children the choice to play indoors or outdoors by promoting free flow throughout the nursery.
Leanne the nursery chef and Pali her assistant provide healthy and nutritious meals for the children. All food is cooked fresh daily and is locally sourced. The nursery menus are varied and we can cater for any dietary requirements.
We have built good relationships with the local Sure Start Centre and other agencies including Mid Bed Twins club, Local health visiting teams and the early years team at Bedford Borough council. We provide a Parent Partnership group which allows us to work in partnership with our parents listening to their views and making any necessary changes/improvements

Hello my name is Theresa Blunden I have been working with children for 18 years since qualifying in 1999 for 12 of those years i have worked here at busy bees firstly as a nursery nurse where I worked in the toddler room, I then got promoted to assistant manager and I am now acting manger for 9 months. My new role means I am lucky to manage a longstanding staff team of 33 staff who all bring their unique qualities to the job, some of our staff have been here since the nursery opened 13 years ago!
The best part of my job is meeting new children and parents and supporting them with their transition into nursery, I love to see the children learn, grow and develop into happy confident independent little people ready for school.
Working for busy bees gives me great opportunities to attend some valuable training which means I am trained in safeguarding children, first aid, behaviour management and SENCO.
I am also the mum of a 3 year old son and I understand as parents we want our children to to receive the best childcare, I always strive to ensure that is what we do each day at Manton lane. Please feel free to come and talk to me any time
"Lee has been at nursery since he was 11 months old and i have seen him become an sociable, friendly and chatty little boy. Now 3 he has started the Pre School class which he loves and i can already seethe transition to school will be relatively smooth. Nina started just before her 1st birthday and loves it just as much as Lee does, I have already seen an increase in her speech, eating and drinking abilities and understanding of instruction."
