Welcome to Our Nursery…
Welcome to Busy Bees at Glasgow Netherton. We have been operating for over 10 years now and because we are based with the David Lloyd Leisure Centre, we are ideal for fitness enthusiasts who attend the gym as well as others who lives or may work in the local area.
Our nursery consists of three playrooms, each with their own secure garden area. The nursery operates from 7:30am – 6:00pm and we provide care for children between the ages of six weeks to five years old and can accommodate 46 children.
Our nursery session times are:-
Full Day 7.30am – 6.00pm
Morning 7.30am – 1.00pm
Afternoon 1.00pm – 6.00pm
Our aim at Busy Bees Glasgow Netherton is to provide children with a safe, nurturing environment where children feel valued, respected, and supported. We place great importance in offering child-led learning where staff are responsive to the interests and developmental needs of each individual child, where curiosity and exploration is highly encouraged. We value the benefits of creating a calm and neutral environment, where the focus is on the children’s learning and development instead of bright colours and busy wall displays which can sometimes be a little over-stimulating.
All our resources are age and stage appropriate for the children using them. We promote loose-parts play through a wide range of open-ended and natural resources that encourage children to be creative and use their imagination. This is also ideal to promote an ethos of recycling and sustainability.
With each age group having access to their own secure garden area directly from the playroom, we encourage the children to participate in as much outdoor learning experiences as possible each day, no matter the weather, promoting physical development and satisfying children’s innate curiosity of the natural world. There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!
We are only a small nursery which is great for children who may have a more quiet, timid nature or just those that appreciate quieter surroundings. Without all the hustle and bustle, children can develop their self-esteem and confidence in a supporting environment. With a small nursery comes a small but very friendly staff team. This too has its benefits as this allows staff to have increased engagement with children and more effective communication with parents. Also, less names that parents need to remember! All our staff are either fully qualified or working towards a qualification. They also regularly participate in further training courses to enhance their knowledge and skills further.
At the nursery we have our own resident chef who takes great pride in our delicious, healthy, nutritious meals and snacks. All meals are prepared using fresh ingredients with a strong emphasis on fruit and vegetables which children enjoy.
We like to make time for daily mindfulness sessions encouraging children to share their feelings and emotions, exploring empathy and kindness, and looking after their own mental and physical wellbeing through yoga and breathing exercises.
We enjoy our Weekly Waddles which involves weekly outings to explore the local community including the canal, the local park and some of the local shops. This is a great project for not only developing children’s physical development, but also their understanding of the services local shops in their community can provide us with.
We are constantly working on improving many aspects of our nursery as we strive to be the best and we welcome any support from parents in doing so, whether this is suggestions, donations of loose parts or sharing with us your expertise knowledge or skills. We value the partnership with our parents and appreciate working together to create the best start for your children.
The nursery is closed on Good Friday & East Monday, 25th & 26th December and 1st & 2nd January. Where Bank Holidays fall on a weekend, the nursery will be closed on that years designated dates (usually the following Monday or Tuesday).
We work in partnership with the local authority to provide free childcare to children of three years and over and regularly have special discounts on offer for new and existing parents.
We still have some availability on select days, so why not come, and visit our charming little nursery for yourselves where the team will be delighted to meet you and discuss your childcare needs.
