Nursery Facilities

Our nursery in Melrose is located just a short drive from the A7 and the A6091, and is just a stone's throw from Borders General Hospital. Tweedbank train station is conveniently just a two-minute drive from Busy Bees Melrose, which offers secure on-site care parking for easy drop-off and collection.

At first glance of our Busy Bees Melrose nursery, parents will see that there is so much for the children to explore and play with throughout, from imaginative role play areas to sensory messy tables.

Within our Melrose day care centre, much of the equipment, toys and room decor is natural and rustic. You'll see elements such as wooden play kitchens, wooden logs for children to sit on, and recycled wooden pallets for toy and book storage. We actively encourage these sustainable toys alongside many others to encourage natural curiosity and widen the children's ever-growing imagination.

At Busy Bees Melrose, we offer the best possible experience for both you and your child within an engaging and fun nursery setting.

- Centre Director

Director

Sara Farquharson

My name is Sara Farquharson and I have been the Centre Director at Busy Bees Melrose since April 2023.

I first joined Busy Bees in January 2017 working in Melrose as 3rd in charge and Early Years Rep, I then progressed to Quality Advisor for the company, supporting across the UK and Channel Islands with quality provision and improvements. I am truly honoured to say that those extraordinary opportunities over the past 6 years have meant that I've been able to return to Melrose as Centre Director with a wealth of experience and passion to support our fantastic team and really give every child in our care the best start in life.

With a focus on empowering ourselves with knowledge and creating wonderful environments that inspire curiosity, creativity and imaginative play we work together to ensure Busy Bees Melrose offers the very best childcare provision.

I would love to hear from you if you have any questions about our wonderful nursery and really look forward to meeting you.

Curriculum and education

Giving your child the best start in life

Curriculum

Our Bee Curious curriculum is at the heart of everything we do, helping your child grow in a safe and nurturing environment.

Centred around your child's interests and pace, we combine purposeful play with a carefully designed curriculum that fosters curiosity and confidence. Bee Curious guides every moment in our nursery, from caring routines to planned activities, placing the unique child and their key person at the heart of learning. From encouraging independence at mealtimes, to supporting friendships in the playground, to celebrating every milestone with enthusiasm, our curriculum sparks a love of learning from the very beginning.

Expertly

developed

Using our 40 years of industry leading childcare experience, Bee Curious is a blueprint for playful learning. It is:

Developed by industry-leading experts and using over 40 years of global expertise

Based on the latest child behavioural science research and findings

Developed through collaboration with Busy Bees educators across the world

Led by Gill Jones MBE - Busy Bees Group Chief Quality Officer

Alongside structured learning, we encourage your child to express themselves freely and explore the world around them through creative and outdoor experiences that support every area of development. We do this by:

Using role play and storytelling to strengthen communication

Exploring art, music and movement

Learning outdoors in a safe, stimulating environment

Developing physical coordination and confidence

A head start

in life

Our teams nurture your child's curiosity and confidence, preparing them not just for school, but for life. We do this by:

Early reading and writing through storytelling and mark-making activities.

Strong number sense through counting, patterns and problem-solving.

Hands-on, purposeful play to encourage critical thinking and curiosity.

Strengthening focus and listening skills with guided group learning sessions.
