Marzena Ratynska Fernando - Centre Director

Marzena Ratynska Fernando

Centre Director

Hello, my name is Marzena, and I am the Centre Director here at Busy Bees Norden Road.

I started my journey in childcare, when I first enrolled onto a BA in early years education, at the age of 19. After 3 years and completion of this diploma, I proceeded with an MA Degree in early years education with special needs. I was at that time working and studying in Warsaw/ Poland. Soon after I arrived in the UK, with an idea to stay around 1 year to improve my English. However, I started working in childcare and enrolled to an EYPS post diploma qualification, which was another 18 months. Soon after I gained my Qualified Teacher Status. Finally, in 2021, I qualified as a Special Needs Coordinator.

On top of the above I have also accredited a suitable person verification by Ofsted, Paediatric First Aid training and many others.

I consider myself extremely fortunate as after two years of working in a UK-based nursery, I was promoted to the role of nursery manager, which I continued for almost 10 years in SW London.

However, after becoming a parent, for the first time in 2016 and again 2018, I realised the need to be working closer to home, to allow more time for my young family.

I am very grateful to be given the role as Centre Director at Busy Bees in Maidenhead. I live in High Wycombe and both of my girls attend the setting.

As a hobby, I also work for National Day Nurseries Association as a trainer.

My vision for childcare has always been the same - each child deserves the best start in life. I strive to provide a very educational provision for the children, being a teacher has influenced my approach to early years. All children must be allowed to be themselves in a child friendly environment, mainly through play, develop lifelong skills and learning fundamentals to further educate in mainstream school.

Children are like sponges, if given the opportunity they will soak everything in, and it is my responsibility and aim to provide it for the children in our care.

My role is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. I come across the newborn babies and see them grown taking their first steps, then proceeding to big school and to start their education. I cherish those precious moments together with their parents when this happens.

I very much look forward to working hard and offer the best possible care with my team to every precious baby/ child in our care.
