After months in the planning, our five Team UK Talent Exchange Programme delegates have safely made it to Canada!
With no time to waste, they were straight into the programme with lots of introductions, meeting their new housemates for the next three weeks and beginning their training.
Katy Officer, Early Years Educator from the Chatham Centre said: “We’re only on day three, and I have already gained a wealth of transferable knowledge and experience!
"Connecting with so many other talented educators from around the world has not only opened my eyes to a variety of global practices but also highlighted how the children truly are at the centre of everything we do.
"I am already filled with an abundance of newly acquired skills and knowledge which I am so excited to bring home and share with my team at Chatham.”
The UK delegates have already enjoyed a bus tour around five nurseries in Calgary, a session sharing global best practices and guest speaker key notes, but they have also found time for a bit of fun along the way too!
They took to the ice at the Calgary Winter Olympics Park for a spot of curling and braved the ice luge!
We are looking forward to hearing more about their travels and experiences over the next few weeks as our Team UK share even more of their life changing experiences, like this from Catherine Whittaker, Assistant Centre Director at Belper Alton Manor: “As a person and educator, this experience has been a test and a challenge on my confidence and at times has really tested me, eg on the plane!
"But I’m so proud of everything I have achieved and Team UK has achieved so far, and there’s so much more to come!
"I travelled to Canada with colleagues but will be flying back to the UK with lifelong friends.”
