Busy Bees Nursery at West End, where children ‘grow in confidence and independence’ has been praised by Ofsted for putting children’s health and safety at the heart of the nursery.

Achieving an ‘Expected Standard’ across all areas, the nursery was recognised for providing a ‘welcoming and inclusive environment’ where children ‘develop a sense of belonging’ and build ‘emotional resilience and independence’ in preparation for school.

Located at Dorna House on Guildford Road, inspectors praised the team for consistently modelling positive behaviour, ensuring children are kind, learn to share and help each other.

The nursery is led by Mihaela Kotzai, who brings over seven years of experience, alongside a team with more than 15 years of combined service, offering consistency and trusted care for local families.

Mihaela Kotzai, Centre Director at Busy Bees West End, said: “We are delighted with our Ofsted outcome which highlights the team’s dedication to supporting children’s development, whilst also recognising the strong relationships we build with our families.

“Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment is at the heart of our nursery, ensuring every child feels valued. Our unique key person partnership supports children from the moment they join us up until they go to school, helping them to grow in confidence and independence. I am so proud of our team and can’t wait to build on our success!”

Commended for its strong key person partnerships, Ofsted noted that new children settle quickly and are offered gentle encouragement, positive interactions and consistent routines that are aligned as closely as possible with those at home.

Collaborative parent partnerships were also highlighted as a key strength. Ofsted recognised that leaders work closely with parents to ensure children establish secure foundations as they make consistent progress. Parents are offered advice on sleeping, weaning and toilet training, supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are also supported to make progress in their learning, with the team make ‘necessary adaptions to routines, activities and their interactions to ensure children with SEND are included and benefit from the learning experiences’.

The nursery’s Bee Curious curriculum was recognised for supporting all children, with staff using their knowledge to plan purposeful and ‘playful activities’ across all areas of learning.

The report recognised the nursery’s strong leadership team who place a strong focus on professional development and recognise the positive impact that it has on children’s learning and care.
