Busy Bees Sutton Scotney, where children are ‘happy, settled and show a secure enthusiasm for learning from the moment they arrive’ is celebrating its Ofsted result following its latest inspection.
Located on Stockbridge Road, the nursery team was praised for forming ‘warm and secure’ relationships with the children, and for responding ‘thoughtfully to their individual needs’.
Children are ‘highly curious, motivated learners who become deeply involved in meaningful experiences’. Babies ‘eagerly explore’ sensory experiences and develop their fine-motor control skills while the older children become ‘deeply absorbed’ in exciting activities and grow in confidence to support their transition to school including serving their own food, pouring drinks and clearing away after eating.
The nursery team was recognised for modelling respectful relationships, supporting children to develop ‘kindness and consideration for others’. Ofsted highlighted inclusivity as a key strength, with activities and resources adapted to support children, including those who face barriers to their learning. Staff also recognise and value children's individual identities, cultures and home languages. As a result, children develop a secure sense of who they are, building confidence and resilience.
The nursery is led by Sarah Dimmer who brings more than eight years of experience. Sarah is supported by a longstanding team with over 60 years of experience, providing exceptional care and education for families in the local community.

The nursery’s Bee Curious curriculum was described as ‘inclusive and well sequenced’, with ‘high-quality teaching that encourages children to explore, investigate and think critically.’ There is a key focus on developing children’s communication and language, and as a result, children become confident communicators.
Inspectors recognised the nursery’s strong relationships with parents, who are ‘actively involved in their children’s learning through shared home-learning ideas’. In addition, they use the key-person system effectively, to provide reassurance and continuity.
A parent whose son attends the nursery, added: “Choosing a nursery for your first baby can feel like a scary decision. However, from the very first moment that Sarah picked up the phone to book in our visit, it was evident that Busy Bees Sutton Scotney was the perfect choice. The joyful team who all seem to know my baby's name regardless of which age group they take care of, the busy babies all focused on both having fun and learning, the parent community at the nursery gate, it's a place where my child is clearly thriving.
