Busy Bees in Hartham Park provides GOOD childcare, as reported by Ofsted, (2012)
Busy Bees Hartham Park is a converted house, with 6 rooms over the 2 levels. These rooms are divided into age appropriate groups, all providing a warm, homely environment for up to 44 children aged from birth to 5 years. Both Hertford train stations are just a walk away. We offer pushchair storage for those Parents wanting to walk to the station.
Hartham Park provides a range of stimulating activities, both in and out doors meeting every child’s need. We encourage them to make choices, which helps promote social knowledge and understanding and creative development which in turn will encourage their language and communication skills.
The staff at Hartham Park are very passionate and enthusiastic in their jobs. They provide the children with high quality love and care, encouragement in their development, learning and interests, making sure every child has had a fun packed day and their needs are met.
Many of our staff have worked at Hartham Park for over 3 years, with some having been here more than 5 years and a couple including myself more than 10years. Half of our staff are qualified Level 3. We also have staffs who are currently training with Busy Bees to become Qualified Early Years Educators (level 3). All staff at Hartham Park are both ‘Paediatric First Aid’ and ‘Safeguarding trained’. We have 5 staff members who hold a ‘First Aid at Work’ certificate. We also have staff who are ‘Health and Safety’ trained, and have both a ‘Behaviour’ and a ‘SENCO’ rep. All of these staff members attend regular training courses.
Victoria is our nursery chef, who with a merit in ‘Food Hygiene’ Level 3 provides healthy and nutritious meals for the children from our newly refurbished kitchen which looks amazing. Victoria works on a 4 weekly rota of menus. We encourage children to always try new things and we are able to cater for children with allergy or dietary requirements. We have received a bronze award with soil association which we are very proud of.
All new children are allocated a ‘Key person’ who work closely with the parents listening to what you have to say about their children and by using this information they will build a relationship with both yourselves and your child.
We have ‘Handover’ every evening; so that Parents are given all the information required about what their little man/lady has been up to in the day. The information includes how many nappy changes, how much of their bottle they had, how much they have eaten of dinner, lunch and snacks and what activities they participated in during the day.
We aim to provide each child with the best start. We love watching children grow from babies to toddlers to little children who leave us to go to big school (full time education). When children move up in to the Gruffalo’s room they get a Busy Bee uniform and book, which helps prepare them for school.
We have a strong Parent partnership group here at Hartham Park and we meet every quarter which gives us a chance to discuss up and coming events at the nursery and any parents a chance to voice their views, concerns or ideas for the nursery.
The Parent evenings, which we hold twice a year, have become quite famous and well attended as parents are provided with a meal of, a hot Curry, Lasagne or Chilli. This makes the evening more of a social event, allowing the Parents ample time to discuss their child’s development with their ‘Key person’, an opportunity to look at the learning journals and chat to other members of staff and other children’s parents. (A parent may look at their child’s learning journal at any time).
We have built a good relationship with our local community and the children’s centre. We also have good relationships with the local health visitor, librarian and Early Years Team. We keep regular contact with local schools, ready for when our children move on.
We couldn't be happier with the service and quality of care our daughter receives at Hartham. She has made fantastic progress in many aspects with constant support and encouragement from the staff.
George loves coming to Busy Bees. He has blossomed as a result and I can’t thank you enough for helping us through the weaning stage
The rooms are bright and colourful and there is always something going on at Hartham Park and is a lovely place to be - T Stewart
