Whether they’re curled up in a cosy book nook, teasing their brain with wooden puzzles, or fizzing themselves up on an indoor soft play area, there’s always something to do at our spacious, custom-designed nursery. 

Our mission is to spark your little one’s curiosity and set them spinning on a lifelong learning journey, equipped with all the tools they’ll need to make a seamless transition to full-time education.  

During their time with us, your little one will participate in a mix of free play and structured activities designed to support their development into a confident, independent learner.  

Is your little one the super-energetic outdoorsy type? No drama. They’ll love our spacious garden, which is packed with evergreen trees and bushes—perfect for discovering the natural world and getting a daily dose of outdoor play. 

We cater to preschoolers of all ages, including babies and toddlers, and have rooms dedicated to each age group, packed with age-appropriate activities. 

Kids 1st Hexham is overseen by Centre Director Eleanor Borrowdale, who pours a lifetime of childcare experience into cultivating a vibrant, engaging environment that your little one will love.

Our Sensory Room is a relaxing space providing a unique sensory experience with activities and equipment to explore, engaging and stimulating children’s senses.

Parent Room
Our parent room is a dedicated safe space for us to get to know your family and you to speak in confidence with our nursery team about your child's nursery life.

Our Interactive Smart Board is used daily to bring learning to life and provides children with a hands-on approach with technology.

Funded Childcare
We offer government funded places for children aged 9 months to 4 years, please speak to the Centre Director for more information.

Teacher
We have a fully qualified Teacher in our pre-school room who delivers exciting learning opportunities, whilst ensuring statutory and legal welfare requirements are met for every child.

Foundation Class
The foundation class nurtures each child's natural curiosity within a structured framework providing pre-school children with an early introduction to school life.

If eligible, you could be entitled to up to 570 or 1140 hours of funded childcare, depending on your eligibility and your child's age, each year for your child. Preparing for School

In order to best prepare the children for the next big chapter of their lives, Busy Bees do all that they can to support and celebrate the transition. All of the planned activities and experiences which take place within our Kids 1st Nursery in Hexham are designed to provide a foundation of skills that will help them grow in becoming confident and capable learners.

You’ll find us on Maiden’s Walk, just behind Hexham General Hospital, off the A695. 

Arriving by car? We’ve got ample on-site parking, making drop-offs and pick-ups swift and safe. 

Arriving on public transport? Get on the 683 bus and hop off at the hospital: we’re just around the corner. We even offer super-handy buggy storage, where you can stow bulky strollers and prams until the end of your little one’s session.
