"It is disappointing to be rating Busy Bees Wakefield a 3, particularly given the very positive experience we had when our daughter first started. The baby room was exceptionally well run and set a very high standard, which naturally shaped our expectations as she progressed through the nursery. When our daughter transitioned into her next room in late July/early August, she initially struggled to settle and it was clear something wasn’t quite right. However, following changes in staffing, we saw a noticeable improvement. She formed strong bonds with the team, particularly Gemma, with whom she developed a very close relationship. We were extremely happy with the care, communication, and updates at that stage, and she still asks for Gemma now, which speaks volumes about the positive impact she had. Unfortunately, the transition into her current room has been far more challenging. Isla was initially allocated a key worker, Demi, whom we felt confident with and whom Isla seemed to like. However, on her first official day in the new room, we were informed via the app that Demi would no longer be working there. Instead, we were presented with several staff members unfamiliar to Isla. This became apparent at drop-off, where she was extremely distressed and reluctant to be left. In hindsight, it feels that transition days should not have gone ahead if staff changes were already planned, as familiarity is essential for our daughter’s emotional wellbeing. Pick-ups during this period were also concerning, as Isla appeared withdrawn and unlike her usual happy self, which has been very difficult for us as parents. While I do feel that staff are always willing to listen and acknowledge concerns when raised, we are currently very mindful of Isla’s care and overall welfare. Communication has also felt more limited recently. Photo updates are infrequent, and beyond occasional playdough activities, it is unclear what learning or play experiences she is engaging in throughout the day. Additionally, the temporary room she was placed in felt quite enclosed, with no natural daylight, limited visibility from the main door, and very few toys available, which was concerning. I genuinely hope to see improvements moving forward and would very much like to be able to provide more positive feedback in the future. At present, however, it does feel that there are areas that require attention and visible improvement."

"It's usually very good although in the recent months of pandemic I felt services were not amazing like usual. Shortage of staff, app not updated, so some days I am not sure if my son had eaten unless I ask. Staff that we made bonds with leaving one after another in short space of time, which makes parent worry what's the reasons behind it and if the level of care will be the same with all the changes. I feel that my child is in a good care but not excellent."

"Generally very good. It would be nice to go into nursery as we've never been in and our child has been there a year now! "
