Sunshine Day Nursery, a highly respected early years setting in West Sussex, has joined the Busy Bees family.
Located on Tarmount Lane, Shoreham-by-Sea, the nursery has been at the heart of the community since opening its doors in 2009.
Under the previous ownership of Steven and Kate Cox, Sunshine Day Nursery prides itself on creating an exceptionally safe, nurturing and stimulating environment that ensures children and their families feel part of the family from the beginning.
Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, the nursery caters for 110 children across all age groups, babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers. It strives to place great importance on the key person and child relationship, with a child-led approach to support children’s learning and development.
The nursery underwent a full refurbishment in January 2024 and now boasts five purpose-built rooms and an extensive outdoor space that supports outdoor learning and exploration. This expansion brings the total number of Busy Bees nurseries in Sussex to 15 including Busy Bees Crowborough, which opened in March 2025.
Steve Goodchild, Divisional Director at Busy Bees, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Sunshine Day Nursery into our expanding family. Steven and Kate have poured their hearts into creating a nurturing and welcoming environment with a dedicated long-standing team that truly care about the unique needs of each child.
“We’re proud to continue their vision going forward and we’re committed to working closely with the team and families to ensure continuity of high-quality care. We extend a warm welcome to all colleagues, children and families into Busy Bees.”
Steven and Kate, Former Owners of Sunshine Day Nursery, added: “We are very proud to have cared for, and supported thousands of local children and their families over the past 16 years. Playing a part in the early years' education of so many young lives has been a real honour. Busy Bees is a very reputable childcare provider, and we are confident that our wonderful staff team will continue to provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment for the children of Shoreham in partnership with the new owners.”
Children attending the nursery will in time benefit from Busy Bees’ latest curriculum Bee Curious, the UK’s only independently evaluated early years curriculum, which has been designed to feed children’s natural curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning.
