Busy Bees Maidenhead Cookham Road, which has been a part of the local community since 2003, has unveiled its newly refurbished nursery, as part of its commitment to providing high-quality early years education and care to families in Maidenhead.
The nursery has undergone a major transformation since July 2025, investing £278,000 in brand-new furniture and resources.
The refurbishment has been designed in line with its Bee Curious curriculum, ensuring children can feed their natural curiosity in engaging and playful environments. Bee Curious is the UK's only independently evaluated early years curriculum which is centred around each child’s individual needs and embraces play-based learning to spark imagination and build confidence.
Alex McKean, Centre Director at Busy Bees Maidenhead Cookham Road, joined the nursery in May 2025. Along with her long-standing team, they have over 50 years of collective early years’ experience.
Alex said: “Everything we do at our nursery is centred around giving every child the best start in life. We wanted to create playful environments that reflect children’s interests and provide spaces where they feel safe and supported.
“This transformation is a commitment to our children’s learning and development, and we know it will have a positive impact on their Busy Bees journey and preparing them for school and beyond. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved, and I can’t wait to see children flourish in their new environment.”
Alex and the nursery team spent an evening with families, showcasing the new environments. One parent said: “A big thank you to Alex and the team for the open evening, it was so good to be able to see inside the nursery and speak to the staff. It was noticeable how confident and friendly the staff were and how keen they were to show off the new resources and talk about the activities they do with the children.”
