Busy Bees Castle View nursery is celebrating a major milestone after achieving ‘Good’ across all three areas of learning in its first HMIE inspection, highlighting the safe, nurturing environments created for children.

Inspectors from His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education in Scotland (HMIE) commended the nursery for creating warm and calming spaces where children feel emotionally secure and valued, highlighting the strong relationships between staff, children and families.

The inspection, spanning four days, saw the nursery achieve a ‘Good’ across all three areas of early years learning: curriculum; learning, teaching and assessment; and wellbeing, inclusion and equality – recognising the team’s commitment to delivering exceptional early years education.

Located on Castle Court, the nursery was recognised for its Bee Curious curriculum that ‘stimulates children’s interest and curiosity’, praising the staff for tailoring activities and spaces to reflect children’s interests and stages of developments. It was noted that children feel engaged in their learning, with strong nursery routines to support children’s independence and confidence.

Led by Jen Wright, who brings over 15 years of experience, alongside a longstanding team with more than 200 years of combined service, the nursery provides trusted high-quality care for families in the community.

Jen Wright, Centre Director at Busy Bees Castle View, said: “We are incredibly proud of this inspection outcome. The result truly reflects the high-quality care and education across our whole nursery and the dedication of our team who always put children and our families at the heart of everything we do.

“We work incredibly hard to create environments where children are happy and secure, so it means the world to us to see those relationships and experiences recognised positively by HMIE. I am so proud of the whole team and grateful to our families who place their trust in us. This result gives us even more motivation to continue building on the wonderful experiences we provide for children.”

Jen’s leadership was applauded by HMIE for promoting inclusion in daily interactions and creating a culture of ‘kindness and respect’. As a result, children collaborate frequently with one another and express their emotions positively. Outdoor learning was also highlighted as a key strength, with children engaging in natural spaces for long periods of time.

The inspection highlighted the nursery’s strong partnerships with families feeling supported and staff work closely with parents to ‘manage and adapt transitions that support children to experience continuity in their learning’.

A parent whose son attends the nursery, said: “Busy Bees Castle View has been amazing for our family. The staff genuinely care about our son and have created a warm, safe and inspiring space where he can really thrive. The progress we’ve seen in our son’s confidence, learning and happiness has been amazing.”

With its first HMIE inspection now complete, Busy Bees Castle View is looking ahead with confidence – continuing to build on its nurturing ethos and commitment to giving every child the best start in life. To find out more, click here
