The Busy Bees nursery in Guiseley provides Outstanding childcare as reported by Ofsted in June 2013. The nursery opened in 2003 and is a 100 place purpose built setting, all on one level. The nursery is based in a great central location, with fantastic rail and road links to Ilkley, Leeds and Bradford.
The nursery has ample car parking, making drop off and pick up both safe and easy.
We also have a lovely large outdoor space with many play and learning opportunities for the children to enjoy.
We have a strong, caring staff team whose qualifications range from NVQ level 2 through to degrees in Early Childhood Studies. Also part of the team are a Health and Safety Coordinator, SENCO and Behaviour Management Mentor.
The nursery offers delicious home cooked foods prepared in our on-site kitchen. The foods are nutritionally balanced and the menus are on a 4 weekly rolling plan.
We are dedicated to ensuring that the children have an enjoyable time while at the nursery and that their needs and interests are met through fun and enjoyable play. This is achieved through a wide range of activities, such as creative craft, music, books, sand and water, role play, ICT, small world and construction. Daily feedback is given at the end of each session through Baby Diaries, for the younger children, and the older children are encouraged to share their experiences of the day with their key person along with their parent/carer.
Your child is assigned a key person and they would be responsible for ensuring your child’s learning and development is enhanced through the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and their developmental progress is communicated during parent’s evenings or at any other time the parent wishes to discuss this. The children are able to take part in a variety of fun and exciting activities which include music, in association with ABC Music and Me, Wake and Shake and Sing & Sign.
Also take a look on our “What’s on” guide for the monthly activities due to take place and our news pages for our history of events.
We are also supporting the Bluebell Wood Hospice charity this year, through activities such as sponsored dress –up days, bake sales and themed fundraising events.
We have a Parent Partnership Group in place, which allows us to work in partnership with our parents and allows for on-going improvements and developments within the nursery. The meetings take place periodically and this allows members of the group to put forward their own and also other parent’s views and suggestions.

He's well socialised, regularly comes out with things that surprises us ie all of sudden recites days of the week, he has learnt how to share through encouragement not harsh discipline.
Great care from the staff, I feel at ease about leaving my child there! Good detailed feedback at the end of the day.
Well organised, staff obviously care about the children.
The nursery is safe, local and my child comes home happy.
My name is Rebecca, I am more often known as Becca. I began my career at Busy Bees in February 2006 as a Business Manager at the Busy Bees Colton Mill setting in East Leeds. I was then appointed Nursery Manager at Guiseley in January 2013.
I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Management and a Level 4 Certificate in Early Years Practice. I have also completed courses in Safeguarding, First Aid in the Workplace, Food Hygiene, Behaviour Management, Healthy Eating and Food Nutrition and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
I am very passionate about putting the needs of children first and I believe that the early years experiences for a child can play a vital role in their health, wellbeing and development in the long term too. I see managing a nursery as a great opportunity to lead a strong staff team in their goal to help to support and care for children to the best of their abilities. Together we continually strive to achieve as many early learning opportunities for our children as possible.
I also encourage good parent partnership in the setting to ensure strong relationships exist between parents and carers, for the sake of continuity and shared opportunities for the child.
As a full-time working mum with a nursery-aged child, I also understand the pressures and the desire for balance that can be felt by busy working parents in modern life. I feel that nursery is a great asset. I am very proud that my little girl can also attend our fantastic nursery here at Guiseley and that she loves it and thrives here.
"We are delighted with the nursery setting and happy to help."
"I wanted to join the Parent Partnership Group to contribute to the ongoing development of the nursery to benefit my children and others. The nursery staff are passionate about their role in the development and care of our children and I feel it is important that as parents we support their work and feedback any positive comments and suggestions for improvement. I would welcome any parents to contact me to discuss feedback that they would like raising through the Parent Partnership Group."
"My little girl Isabella has settled well and loves nursery."
