Why You Will Love Our Nursery

The Busy Bees nursery in Guiseley provides Outstanding childcare as reported by Ofsted in June 2013. The nursery opened in 2003 and is a 100 place purpose built setting, all on one level. The nursery is based in a great central location, with fantastic rail and road links to Ilkley, Leeds and Bradford.
The nursery has ample car parking, making drop off and pick up both safe and easy.

We also have a lovely large outdoor space with many play and learning opportunities for the children to enjoy.

We have a strong, caring staff team whose qualifications range from NVQ level 2 through to degrees in Early Childhood Studies. Also part of the team are a Health and Safety Coordinator, SENCO and Behaviour Management Mentor.

The nursery offers delicious home cooked foods prepared in our on-site kitchen. The foods are nutritionally balanced and the menus are on a 4 weekly rolling plan.

We are dedicated to ensuring that the children have an enjoyable time while at the nursery and that their needs and interests are met through fun and enjoyable play. This is achieved through a wide range of activities, such as creative craft, music, books, sand and water, role play, ICT, small world and construction. Daily feedback is given at the end of each session through Baby Diaries, for the younger children, and the older children are encouraged to share their experiences of the day with their key person along with their parent/carer.

Your child is assigned a key person and they would be responsible for ensuring your child’s learning and development is enhanced through the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We ensure their developmental progress is communicated during Parent’s Evenings, or at any other time the parent wishes to discuss this. The children are able to take part in a variety of fun and exciting activities and our fantastic educational enhancements such as Babble to Chatter (to support early communication and language) Shake and Write (to encourage early handwriting skills) and Wake and Shake (to boost confidence and physical fitness). We also offer Spanish classes in our Preschool and a ‘Sing and Sign’ class in our toddler room.

Please take a look at our Events page to see what we will be up to in the next few weeks and see our News page for photos and write ups from previous events.

We have a Parent Partnership Group in place, which allows us to work in partnership with our parents and allows for on-going improvements and developments within the nursery. The meetings take place periodically and this allows members of the group to put forward their own and also other parent’s views and suggestions.

Come and see the fantastic facilities for yourself, we are happy to show you around. Simply call or email us today for more information and an appointment to suit you.

Meet the Team

Helen Burton

Nursery Manager

My name is Helen and I am a long standing member of the team. I started at the nursery when it first opened in 2003 as a Nursery Nurse after qualifying from college with my CACHE Diploma In Childcare & Education (level 3). I have seen the nursery grow and develop over the years and worked my way up the promotional ladder to get where I am today. I am currently covering Rebecca Wall's Maternity Leave,

I also hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Early Childhood Studies and also what is more commonly known now as Early Years Teacher Status (EYT). I have also completed courses in Senco training, First Aid at Work, paediatric first aid and Food Hygiene and my level 5 in Leadership and Management.

I have always been passionate about my job. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing children achieve and grown as they develop their own little personalities. I like to ensure that this is at the forefront of what I do and that this passion can be embedded into the strong staff team that we have here at Guiseley, to ensure that children are highly cared for and given as many learning opportunities as possible.

I also pride myself on communication and partnership with parents, some of which I have know for some years as they have had older children that have come through the nursery.

I am a full time working mum, my son attended the nursery and started school in September 2016. This has been a great foundation for learning and development. The things I have seen him achieve are amazing and I hope this continue for our current and new parents as we welcome them to Busy Bees. Nursery life is a great platform for young children’s development and well-being.

Room Team

Hi, We are the Sunflowers team! We support the eldest children of the nursery with their transition to school, following a Preschool Project every Summer. We know how important it is to help support children with their 'school readiness', from being able to dress themselves and learning to use the toilet without assistance,to a good understanding of the values of sharing and turn taking. We focus on these plus the educational elements of the curriculum to ensure the best start for every child.

Room Team

Hello, we are the Daffodils team and we look after the toddlers, supporting them with their emerging physical development, communication and language and personal, social and emotional development. We ensure the children feel secure here in all senses. Our troop love the outdoors and everything we do indoors we like to take outside too. We have direct access to the garden and so this makes free flow playtime easy and fun, allowing the children choice about where as well as how to play
