Busy Bees at Leyton Road is a 55 place nursery set on two levels in a converted house. The nursery is very easily accessible from Harpenden train station, which is only a five minute walk away. There are pushchair storage facilities available for those wanting to walk to the train station. The nursery is also within easy reach of both St Albans and Luton town centres. We are very close to the local park, dentist and library. This means that the children can experience outings whilst at nursery.
We have a very strong staff team working at Leyton Road. The staff are a mixture of NVQ Level 3 to 5 qualified early years educators and also staff who are studying towards their NVQ’s. The manager of the nursery has a level 4 in Leadership Capability and an NNEB.
The staff are consistently trained in various aspects of childcare, Busy Bees offer their own in house training to staff, these include such courses as Safeguarding Children and Paediatric First Aid.
Kershnie our nursery chef provides all the children with two fresh, healthy and nutritious meals a day, which are prepared on site. The children also get breakfast in the morning and two snacks during the day.
So that we can keep the parents fully informed of new things going on in the nursery we have set up a Parent Partnership Group. The idea of this is for parents to improve the service we provide by giving ideas for the nursery. They can go to a representative who will then relay the information onto management, improving relationships with parents and creating a strong bond with families.
Leyton Road was rated as ‘GOOD’ in our last Ofsted inspection. ‘Staff ensure that children have access to a good range of resources so that children receive experiences that promote their progress overall, as well as being enjoyable and fun’
Just wanted to say thank you for the Graduation this afternoon. Martha really enjoyed it and was very proud on her return home. I missed the entertainer, but Will said she was great. The end of an era
Hello, my name is Danielle.
I am the nursery manager here at Leyton Road. I have been with Busy Bees at Leyton Road for 5 years. I have gained my childcare qualification through Busy Bees, and I am furthering my training doing Level 3 Leadership and Management.
Throughout my time at Busy Bees I have experienced many roles, such as being a Room Leader, Assistant Manager, and now covering manager for maternity leave. I have also experienced being the health and safety coordinator and also the childcare representative.
Ensuring each individual children's needs are met, whilst being within a safe and secure environment. I thoroughly enjoy seeing children, thrive and achieve whilst growing and developing.
"I was thrilled to become parent liaison for Busy Bees Leyton Road. I firmly believe parents and staff should be a team whose goal is to work towards making happy, healthy and well rounded individuals. Every person from keyworker to cook has an integral role and communication and trust are vital in developing our children."
"It is really important all parents feel they can put forward ideas and any suggestions they may have-and for us to work together as parents with the staff team. Good communication and relationships between parents and the nursery will benefit all of us,especially our children. I have one daughter Martha who has been at the nursery since she was a baby."
