Just wanted to say thank you for the Graduation this afternoon. Martha really enjoyed it and was very proud on her return home. I missed the entertainer, but Will said she was great. The end of an era
Busy Bees at Leyton Road is a 55 place nursery set on two levels in a converted house. The nursery is very easily accessible from Harpenden train station, which is only a five minute walk away. There are pushchair storage facilities available for those wanting to walk to the train station. The nursery is also within easy reach of both St Albans and Luton town centres. We are very close to the local park, dentist and library. This means that the children can experience outings whilst at nursery.
We have a very strong staff team working at Leyton Road. The staff are a mixture of NVQ Level 3 to 5 qualified early years educators and also staff who are studying towards their NVQ’s. The manager of the nursery has a level 4 in Leadership Capability and an NNEB.
The staff are consistently trained in various aspects of childcare, Busy Bees offer their own in house training to staff, these include such courses as Safeguarding Children and Paediatric First Aid.
Kershnie our nursery chef provides all the children with two fresh, healthy and nutritious meals a day, which are prepared on site. The children also get breakfast in the morning and two snacks during the day.
So that we can keep the parents fully informed of new things going on in the nursery we have set up a Parent Partnership Group. The idea of this is for parents to improve the service we provide by giving ideas for the nursery. They can go to a representative who will then relay the information onto management, improving relationships with parents and creating a strong bond with families.
Leyton Road was rated as ‘GOOD’ in our last Ofsted inspection. ‘Staff ensure that children have access to a good range of resources so that children receive experiences that promote their progress overall, as well as being enjoyable and fun’
I have worked for Busy Bees for nearly 20 years, starting as a newly qualified Nursery Nurse ( Diploma in Nursery Nursing)at Busy Bees Rothamsted Lodge in 1995.
I soon developed and progressed to become the Manager of the nursery there in 2000. After having my second child in 2006 I then transferred to become manager of Busy Bees Leyton Road. I developed my career by achieving the Level 3 in Management in 2007 and then awarded the Certificate of Lifelong Learning in Leadership capability 2011.
I took a brief spell between July 2014 to March 2015 to work in the Busy Bees Training Department and then returned to the nursery where my passion is. I am very proud of the nursery where I am dedicated and love every minute of my day, caring for and nurturing the children and staff. No two days are ever the same at the nursery and that is due to the fun environment that my self and the staff provide for the children.
When I am not at the nursery I enjoy spending time with my family, on days out, with my wonderful two children.
"I am a solicitor and play hockey on a regular basis. I am very happy with the nursery and my son Ollie loves it here and has built great relationships with staff."
"I was thrilled to become parent liaison for Busy Bees Leyton Road. I firmly believe parents and staff should be a team whose goal is to work towards making happy, healthy and well rounded individuals. Every person from keyworker to cook has an integral role and communication and trust are vital in developing our children."
"It is really important all parents feel they can put forward ideas and any suggestions they may have-and for us to work together as parents with the staff team. Good communication and relationships between parents and the nursery will benefit all of us,especially our children. I have one daughter Martha who has been at the nursery since she was a baby."
