Why You Will Love Our Nursery

Busy Bees at Nottingham University is a single storey purpose built nursery situated close to the QMC with easy access onto the A52.

Our nursery has 5 spacious rooms which are bright and welcoming. We also have individual gardens suited to the age range of the children; all gardens have soft surfaced flooring and fencing around to enable a safe and secure environment.

We have an open door policy here at Busy Bees allowing parents to come and go as they please. Prospective parents are more than welcome to drop in as no appointment is necessary.

We have many long serving staff members that have been here for over 5 years and understand the importance of providing a warm, friendly and caring environment for parents and their children to feel settled.
Our Staff are supported from an excellent training department within our head office team. Our staff all hold qualifications ranging from NVQ2 to NVQ 4, 75% of staff are qualified to Level 3 or above.

Being on the Nottingham University Campus sees the nursery with a wide range of cultures allowing us to celebrate festivals throughout the year and ensuring children’s individual beliefs are valued.

The children are provided with a healthy and nutritious balanced diet which is prepared and cooked daily at the nursery by our experienced chef. We have received the highest rating from the Environmental Health of 3 stars during our audit.

We provide daily feedback, progress reports, learning journeys and regular parents’ evenings.

The nursery offers funding for children aged 2 years as well as the nursery education funding for 3 – 5 year olds.

Meet the Team

Nursery Manager

Hello, welcome to Busy Bees at Nottingham University. My name is Lauren, I have worked for Busy Bees since 2002 and I qualified in 2000 gaining my NNEB qualification in childcare.

I started here as a Room Manager and worked with all ages providing high quality childcare. I then covered maternity cover 4 times as Assistant Manager and I felt that this helped me gain the knowledge and experience I needed to become a manager.

I manager a team of 31 staff and I am strongly committed to the nursery and the team.

I have attended many training courses to develop my knowledge further and thoroughly enjoy my role as a manager especially liaising with parents and making them feel comfortable in leaving their children at nursery.

Jenny Higgs

I’m Jenny, mum to Benjamin and Samuel. Our relationship with Busy Bees began in the summer of 2011 after Sam was born prematurely. We were introduced to the nursery by our health visitor under the community initiative scheme, which allowed Ben to attend for two mornings a week for a period of weeks to give me a break.

"All along we have been impressed by the commitment and dedication that Busy Bees has to each and every child in their care. Nothing is ever too much, and every effort is made to reach each child’s potential. Being a full – time mum can be quite lonely, so I have always appreciated having a natter when I go to pick up the boys. With our third child due in January 2013, we are fully expecting our relationship with nursery to continue for a long time to come."

Michelle & Andrew Maddison

We are Andy and Michelle Maddison parents to the vivacious Emily in Pre-School 1 and the effervescent Alice in Baby 2. Both of our girls are attending Busy Bees at Nottingham University full time. The one thing we were most adamant about when choosing a nursery for Emily was that we had to feel comfortable leaving her there, safe in the knowledge she would be looked after by astute carers who met all her daily needs and requirements.

"The carers at Busy Bees promote an excellent standard of competency when dealing with children at all stages of development. Both Alice and Emily have grown to form strong relationships with a number of members of staff and have carried these through their time at the nursery. I am confident that when I leave the girls at nursery, their educational needs will be met and most importantly, they will have fun!"
