Busy Bees Nursery at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital has been recognised for providing a safe and supportive learning environment where children flourish, following its latest Ofsted inspection.
Located on Colney Lane, the nursery achieved a ‘Strong Standard’ across all areas, with inspectors praising the team for building ‘positive and trusting relationships’ with children, helping them to settle confidently into nursery life.
Inspectors highlighted the team’s nurturing and calm approach as a key strength, noting how staff respond promptly to children’s needs and prioritise their wellbeing.
The nursery is led by Sarah Radford, who brings over 19 years of experience, alongside a longstanding team with more than 300 years of combined service, offering consistency and trusted care for local families.
Sarah Radford, Centre Director at Busy Bees Nursery at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, said: “Everything we do is grounded in one simple truth: we come to work every day for the children. Their joy, curiosity, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning inspire us constantly.
“Their achievements sit at the heart of this Ofsted outcome and their happiness is the driving force behind all we do. I could not be prouder of our team and I am delighted to share this Ofsted inspection result with our community and beyond.”
Strong parent partnerships were also given a special mention. Ofsted recognised that leaders work closely with ‘parents and carers to foster positive relationships that support children’s learning, development and readiness for school’. Parents of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities highlighted the team’s attentive approach and support to their child’s individual needs.
Emily, whose daughter attends the nursery, added: “Our daughter absolutely loves going in, which says everything. The team really take the time to get to know each child as an individual, and the relationships they build are amazing. Our child feels safe, happy, and confident there. It’s very obvious that the children’s wellbeing and safety are the absolute top priority. Choosing Busy Bees Norwich Hospital was one of the best decisions we’ve made. It really feels like a second family, and we’re so grateful to the whole team for the love, care, and dedication they show every single day.”
Children at the nursery benefit from ‘rich learning experiences’, where they ‘explore with curiosity and increasing independence, demonstrating resilience and well-developed social skills’. Its Bee Curious curriculum is adapted thoughtfully so that all children learn, thrive and make excellent progress.
The report also recognised the nursery’s positive working culture, with leaders commended for being ‘attentive to staff's wellbeing’ and creating a supportive, collaborative culture where everyone feels valued and empowered.
