Busy Bees Nursery at Plymouth, where children’s individuality is celebrated and they feel ‘safe, settled and valued’ has been praised by Ofsted in its latest inspection.
Achieving an ‘Strong Standard’ across all areas, the nursery team was recognised for building warm, secure relationships with children and responding quickly to their individual needs.
Located on William Prance Road at Seaton Court, inspectors praised the team for developing secure attachments across all rooms. Babies benefit from attentive care through songs and gentle interactions, while the older children develop independence and resilience to help prepare them for school.
The nursery is led by Lynsey Carroll, who brings over 19 years of experience, alongside a longstanding team with more than 250 years of combined service, providing trusted high-quality care for families in the community.
Lynsey Carroll, Centre Director at Busy Bees at Plymouth, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved a Strong Standard across all areas. This result reflects the dedication and hard work of our team, who place attentive care, safety, and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to giving every child the very best start in life, always ensuring their individual needs are at the centre of our approach.”
Placing a strong emphasis on wellbeing, Ofsted noted that all ‘children thrive in an environment where their safety, health and emotional development are prioritised’. Inspectors commended the nursery’s routines for feeding and sleeping which are adapted to individual needs, while staff support children to ‘recognise and manage emotions’ through calm interactions and predictable routines.
Ofsted also applauded the nursery for making ‘thoughtful adaptations’ to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including the use of visual tools and tailored resources that ‘strengthen their confidence, social interaction and communication’. As a result, they make ‘sustained progress’.
Families said they ‘feel welcomed and valued’, with the nursery team working alongside parents to ensure communication is open, supportive and consistent.
The nursery’s Bee Curious curriculum was recognised for its purposeful activities that ‘build on children’s prior knowledge’, with a strong focus on children's physical, personal, social and emotional development’. Inspectors highlighted that this helps children explore feelings and learn to manage social situations.
