Why You Will Love Our Nursery

Busy Bees in Bedford Elstow provides GOOD childcare, as reported by Ofsted, (2013). We are a purpose-built nursery for children ages 3 months-5 years, situated within quiet surroundings in Progress Park, Elstow, alongside the Park and Ride. We are easily accessible from the A6 and the A421. We have a large private car park to ensure your child can be dropped off safely.

Our beautiful nursery has bright and spacious rooms for all children to play, rest, sleep and eat, all with highly secure outdoor play areas fully equipped with age-appropriate facilities to play and explore. All rooms are carefully furnished to suit the interests and ages of children and are designed to be comfortable 'home from home' environments that provide children with unlimited opportunities to explore and develop.

We provide a friendly and welcoming environment where our children and families feel safe and part of our Busy Bees nursery family. We ensure activities are regularly offered for all the family to enjoy together, such as Mother’s/Fathers Day breakfast, Christmas family fun day, open days and seasonal events.

We are proud to have a happy, motivated and qualified staff team, of which most are qualified to a Level 3 or above. We have our own training department, Busy Bees Training, that support our staff further to develop new skills, acquire new qualifications and always keep up-to-date with the latest legislation, so that you can have the confidence that your child is being cared for by a knowledgeable and committed team.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which is the same statutory framework that schools and pre-schools attached to schools follow, so that you can rest assured your child is being provided with fun and exiting learning opportunities with educational benefits.

There is a strong emphasis on practical investigation and active learning through play, both in the play rooms and outdoors, carefully planned to develop children's individual skills, interests and understanding. We promote inclusive practise and encourage children to be independent and make choices.

We keep an updated learning journal for each and every child, to keep a record of all developments, interests and achievements with photos and observations throughout each day. These journals are regularly shared with parents and any at-home activities are also added to reflect their progress.

Meet the Team

Sara Vobe

Nursery Manager

Hello my name is Sara Vobe and I am the Nursery Manager for Bedford Elstow.

I have over 25 years experience in childcare, firstly as a mum of two wonderful daughters. Whilst my daughters were young I became a registered childminder and during this time I achieved my NVQ 3 in childcare and education. I applied for a position within our local community Pre-School as an assistant and within 6 months I was offered the Pre-School Manager position. After four fantastic years the Pre-School Turned into a Phase One Children’s Centre, my position became redundant and it was then that I applied for the Nursery Managers position and was successful and remained there for several years, during which time I achieved my Early Years Sector Endorsed Foundation Degree in July 2008.

In March 2010 I joined Bedford Elstow and have seen the nursery team and opportunities for children and families grow.

We aim to offer a high standard of care and education where each child as an individual can achieve their Goals!
My motto is ‘Reach for the sky and be the star that you are’

During my spare time I like to spend time with my family. I like walking around the marina with my dog. Going on holidays in the sunshine and gardening.

Becci Satham

Hi my name is Becci and i am a mum of one happy, outgoing little boy. My son Ryan started Busy Bees Bedford Elstow (formerly Just Learning) at 9 months old and has loved it from day one.
"When Ryan started Nursery i was more nervous than he was the first few days but the support and advice i received from the the nursery staff made the transition much easier. Nursery was definatley the best option for Ryan. The wide variety of activities and toys keep him busy, engaged and allows him to run his energy off. Ryan loves the food at nursery and even eats better than me! If you have any concerns or questions about sending your child to nursery, i will be more than happy to help."

Katie Bayliss

Hi! I'm Katie and i am the mummy to a cheeky monkey (also) called Logan, who is currently in 1-2 room. Logan has been at Elstow since he was 6 months old. As a first time mummy, i was incredibly nervous about leaving Logan, but as the last several months have passed i can honestly say that he has come on leaps and bounds during his time at Elstow. He loves his main carers dearly, this is a massive relief to me, as i know i can go off to work and not feel too guilty.
"When i decided to return to work i visited 4 different nurseries across Bedford, but there was something that kept drawing me back to Busy Bee's Bedford Elstow. The staff were friendly and professional, the children i saw looked happy and engaged, the outdoor space was amazing. The team constanly look for ways to enthral the children at all ages, from new toys in the lower groups, to pumpkin growing for the older groups! It would be great to build up a parent network for the children who attend."
