The majority of our parents live or work locally and for those driving we have a private car park to the rear of the building. We are also well connected for local bus services.
Children at Treetops Caterpillar, Deeping St James are cared for in 4 separate age-dependent rooms and in line with the EYFS statutory framework. Many of our caring staff live in the local community and they build work close working relationships with parents to settle babies and toddlers into the nursery environment. Our homely and community feel is one of the features our parents value most.
Our passionate childcare team delivers a programme of stimulating and exciting activities and experiences to maximise the potential of every child and their development. From messy play, sensory play, home corner and role play to the pre-school staples of phonics, literacy and elemental mathematics we have every age and stage of childcare covered. We even run week-long programmes of school readiness for children leaving the nursery, to equip them with all of the essential skills they need for ‘big school’.
We offer Tiny Tykes football club as an extra-curricular activity – helping to develop hand-eye coordination, balance, teamwork and physical development.
Treetops Caterpillars’ rural location means our children enjoy all that nature has to offer. Our large, mature garden presents a rich and varied backdrop for outdoor learning and we encourage children to get outside whatever the weather. It’s a great way to expend energy, explore the environment and the elements, and develop social skills and physical play.
A separate baby garden with no-mow grass and a soft play, sensory lodge allows our youngest residents to enjoy play at their own pace in a safe and secure environment.
We believe in broadening horizons and also get out and about in the community too, visiting Peterborough Museum, the local library for story-time and feeding ducks at the River Welland. You’ll also see us out and about in the community with our Treetops buggy bus.
We work closely with local schools to transition our preschool children. They typically go on to neighbouring schools including Linchfield Community Primary School, Market Deeping Community Primary School, Deeping St James Primary School, William Hildyard CofE Primary School and Langtoft Primary School, Peterborough.
